First Division
(Taxis or Vans)

Classes will cover vehicles designed/certified by the manufacturer to carry 10 passengers or less including the driver.

Second Division (Bus)

Classes will cover vehicles carrying over 10 passengers and drivers must hold a CDL license.

The Regional Office of Education is responsible for the delivery of initial and continuing education for school bus drivers.

VECTOR

Vector is an online computer-based module that fulfills FMCSA ELDT Theory (Knowledge) Training requirements. All School Districts in McHenry County may register for this service. Any Contractor that transports students for a McHenry County school district is eligible to register for this service. If your company isn’t listed on the drop-down menu, contact McHenry ROE.

FIRST DIVISION

First Division (Taxis or Vans) classes will cover vehicles designed/certified by the manufacturer to carry 10 passengers or less including the driver. First Division Refresher classes are for drivers with a First Division Permit (who attended a First Division Initial Class after  January 1, 2024, all others will need to attend a Second Division Refresher Class).

  • Drivers planning to attend a class must be registered and have paid the $10.00 fee to the McHenry County Regional Office of Education prior to the class date (registration links below).
  • No admission after the instructor has begun the class.

Initial classes are limited to 10-12 individuals.
Additional classes will be added if demand requires.

SECOND DIVISION

Second Division (Bus) classes will cover vehicles carrying over 10 passengers. Second Division Refresher classes are for School Bus Drivers (CDL holders) and Van/Taxi Drivers (who were permitted prior to January 1, 2024 or who attended a Second Division Initial Class after January 1, 2024).

  • Drivers planning to attend a class must be registered and have paid the $10.00 fee to the McHenry County Regional Office of Education prior to the class date (registration links below).
  • No admission after the instructor has begun the class.
